Manicure Monday: Sharpie (Actually a BIC) Gold Designs!

MM-Gold BIC

I absolutely love doing my nails. I’m not sure if its the frugal fashionista in me, or the fact that I hate sitting in the nail salon. Either way, nowadays I barely, if ever, go to the nail salon.  I actually enjoy doing my own nails and making cool designs.  I’ve found it to be very relaxing in my often hectic life!

With my new found love for Pinterest, I always look there for nail designs before I do my nails. One day I came across a few posts that referenced a Gold Metallic Sharpie being used to make these awesome designs!  I was in awe, who would have thought to use a Sharpie! When I was younger, I often drew on my nails with pens, but never thought about it doing it as adult!

Anyway, after seeing this I was on a mission to make some Sharpie designs! So I went to Target, and maybe because all of the Back-to-Schoolers purchased all of the Sharpies, but I could not find a gold one anywhere. So, I had to settle for this BIC Mark-It Metallic Pack of permanent markers. (Honestly they seem exactly the same as Sharpies but cheaper)  I got a 3 pack with bronze, yellow gold and silver for $2.89. (pretty good deal)

Here’s what I did to make this awesome, sleek and classy design.

  1. Base Coat
  2. 2 Coats of Black
  3. Wait at least 30 minutes before you start drawing on your nails, I was impatient and had to repaint a few nails
  4. Lightly draw a horizontal line across your nails or any other design
  5. Apply the top coat and your done!

The only other difficulty with this pen was when I had to do my right hand (hence no pictures of it!) I am right handed and cannot draw a straight line with my left hand, if you can, then you are fine!

Overall, this is a very easy way to make some pretty cool designs on your nails, can’t wait to try out the silver

Have you used any permanent markers, Sharpies or BIC’s to create designs on your nails? How did they turn out?

Stay Financially Savvy!
